December in my classroom was a magical mix of joy, connection, and heartfelt moments, all thanks to some truly incredible books. Students lit up with curiosity as we read Beam of Light: The Story of the First White House Menorah, exploring history, hope, and tradition. We marveled at the wonder of the season with Red and Lulu and The Carpenter’s Gift, sparking excitement and meaningful discussions about giving, home, and love during the holidays. This month also allowed space for reflection and healing as we read Calling the Wind, a beautifully tender story that opened up conversations about loss and remembering loved ones, helping me personally as I navigate the loss of my mother. These books brought laughter, learning, and connection to our classroom, creating a December filled with shared wonder and moments of comfort during a time of celebration and reflection.
